During April 13-19, 2010, two representatives of FMG (Fortescue Metals Group Ltd), including Dr. John Clout, GM on Resources Strategy, and Chen Wenting, accompanied by related persons in charge from China Certification and Inspection Group Inspection Co., Ltd (CCIC-Inspection), China Certification and Inspection Group Shanghai Co., Ltd (CCIC Shanghai Co., Ltd), China Certification and Inspection Group Jiangsu Co., Ltd (CCIC Jiangsu Co., Ltd), China Certification and Inspection Group Shandong Co., Ltd (CCIC Shandong Co., Ltd), China Certification and Inspection Group Ningbo Co., Ltd (CCIC Ningbo Co., Ltd), came to Shanghai, Jiangsu, Shandong and Zhejiang, etc. to exchange views on iron ore inspection.
The delegation also visited subsidiaries of related local companies in Shanghai, Nantong, Taicang, Qingdao and Beilun, etc. checked the loading and unloading situations, sampling and equipment operations of iron ore in ports, and made in-depth exchanges on iron ore sampling and preparation process, water content, preparation of size sample, as well as quality inspection, etc.
Founded in 2003, FMG is the third largest iron ore exporter in Australia and one of the ASX S&P 50. FMG possesses the largest mineral prospecting property in Pilpara region of Australia, specifically, 4.5 billion tons of iron ore resources proven in only 15% of total 50 thousand square kilometers, while 1.1 billion tons are of reserve standard. Depending on its AUD 30 billion of market value and successful operation, FMG has already become the new heavyweight mineral exporter in Australia, of which most produced iron ore is exported to China. Besides, it is known that CCIC-Inspection has provided quantity and quality inspection services at ports of discharge for FMG since August 2008, and the FMG's delegation gave a high opinion of and unanimous praises to the services that CCIC provided.
