Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government Establishes Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification

The Hong Kong SAR Government recently announced the establishment of Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification. The Council will offer suggestions to the government on issues of the testing and certification industry, and explore ways to expand new business opportunities and promote more professional practices in the industry.

‘The testing and certification industry is one of the six dominant industries selected by the HK Economic Opportunities Committee. The professionalism, integrity and knowledge of the international market of the testing industry in Hong Kong enjoys a great reputation in the region. The establishment of the Hong Kong Council for Testing and Certification is a milestone in the development of the industry, which also indicates the firm support of the SAR Government for the sustainable development of the industry’, noted Ms. Rita Lau, Director-General of Commerce and Economic Development Bureau of SAR Government.

Deputy Head of Chinese University of Hong Kong, Cheng Bozhong, who has rich testing and certification experience, will serve as the Chairman of the Council. Other members of the Council are from the testing industry, business circle, professional associations, related public organizations and departments of the SAR Government.
