Key Administration Catalog (1st Batch) for Electronic Information Product Pollution Control under China RoHS Unveiled for Public Opinions
Updated Time: [ 12-15-2009 ]

In accordance with China RoHS, namely, Measures for the Control of Pollution from Electronic Information Products, which came into force on Mar.1, 2007, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of P. R. C. released the draft of Key Administration Catalog (1st Batch) for Electronic Information Product Pollution Control (hereinafter referred to as the "Key Administration Catalog") on Oct.9, 2009 for public opinions for a one-month period.

The Key Administration Catalog covers three categories of products: mobile phones, telephones (fixed telephone terminal, cordless telephone terminal) and printers connected to computers. Chinese standard SJ/T11363-2006 (setting requirements on the concentration limits of certain hazardous substances in electronic information products) regulates the maximum concentration of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls and polybrominated diphenyl oxide; while the Key Administration Catalog adds some exemptions (for example, the limit of the lead content in alloys has been eased to some extent, lead and cadmium can be contained in optical and filter glass, and lead can be applied in ceramic parts; the application of exemptions is similar with that of EU RoHS).

The Key Administration Catalog will come into force 10 months after its promulgation.
