What is PVoC of Kenya?
Pre-Export Verification of Conformity (PVoC) is a regulation of the Kenya government regarding importing commodities. It is a conformity assessment and verification procedure applied to specific goods at exporting countries, to ensure they are compliable with the Kenyan technical regulations and mandatory standards or approved equivalents.
Before shipping to Kenya, all consignments subject to PVoC must obtain the mandatory Custom Clearance document, Certificate of Conformity (CoC), without which the commodities arriving at Kenyan Ports will be rejected or fined heavily.
The PVoC program is carried out by authorized third-party agencies, consisting of physical inspection with combination of lab testing, documentary review and factory audits, where necessary.
Key benifits of PVoC
For importing country:
Protect consumer's health, safety and security
Safeguard the interest of local manufacturers
Facilitates the customs clearance process
For exporting country:
Overcomes the risk of rejection of products in the importing country
Promotes the quality image of the products
